Brian Eno Encourages Public Help to Propel Together for Palestine Song to UK Festive Top Spot.

A campaign is aiming to send a traditional song from Palestine to the peak of the festive singles chart. The campaign aims to deliver assistance to Gaza's residents while also showcasing Palestinian cultural expression.

An Opportunity for Unity and an "Chart Upset"

Composer and producer Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a moment to show solidarity with Palestinians over the Christmas period. He acknowledged the potential for an surprise number one.

“It would be fantastic if that occurred, yes,” he said. “I’m not gonna be completely let down if it doesn’t, Christmas singles are a thing unto themselves.”

Resilient Spirit of Dignity and Freedom

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the reimagining of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's defiant core message.

“It has a profound significance for countless listeners,” Barghouti said. “It’s basically saying that I would rather die in dignity than exist without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we want to live a respectful existence that we deserve as Palestinians.”

Production History and Contributing Musicians

The track was produced following a solidarity show held in September. Originally intended to be captured during the live event, the piece was cut from the show due to the event running long.

The diverse array of artists appearing on Lullaby features a selection of well-known figures from the music world. All participated in the September show, which reportedly raised a considerable total for relief efforts.

Production and Release

Lullaby was crafted by a team of music creators. The song features a combination of the traditional Arabic lyrics with freshly written English words.

The group managing the campaign have emphasized that their objective is to collect the highest amount for a specific fund. These proceeds will be channeled to projects in Palestine through an non-profit partner.

“We haven't set a rigid aim,” a representative explained. “We’ll go for the maximum achievable. Obviously, the greater the amount, the better. Every penny goes out to those in need in Gaza.”

The context in the area was described as its widespread damage, with a huge proportion of property said to be destroyed or damaged.

“Against that backdrop, a handful of millions doesn’t make a massive dent. But I think what does make a difference is first of all spreading knowledge of this plight and showing there’s another side to the story.”

The track is scheduled for release this Friday. Additionally, a video of the charity concert will be made ready to watch on a major video platform from later in the month.
