England's Bowling Consultant Tim Southee Unsure on The Ashes Availability
The bowler's most recent Test match for the Kiwis was versus England in the final month of 2024.
England's fast-bowling advisor Southee is still working through what his involvement will be during the upcoming Ashes series in the host nation.
The ex- Kiwi pace bowler is expected to be available for the first Test because of his involvement in the International League T20 competition, which starts on December 2 in the UAE.
The 36-year-old, 36, took up a role as England's pace bowling advisor in the summer after claiming 391 scalps in 107 Tests for New Zealand.
Speaking as the English team for the opening of three T20 matches against New Zealand was named, he stated of his participation: "We are still evaluating the situation at the moment.
"We will determine the outcome over the next little while."
England bowling legend Broad had declared the Australian team as their "worst team since 2010", but Southee was in little doubt over the anticipated challenge during the contest, which starts on 21 November.
"I don't think there's at any time a poor Aussie side," Southee remarked.
"Our focus is firmly on what we're trying to do. I think the quality of [the English] side that's going out to Australia is excellent.
"It ought to be an thrilling encounter, the Ashes. Not just [are|do] English and Australian people looking forward to it, I believe the entire cricketing community is."
However, prior to England travel to the city of Perth for the first Ashes match, they face the Kiwis in Christchurch on this Saturday.
