Esteemed Performer Pat Finn, Recognized For Roles in Friends and The Middle, Passes Away at 60 Years Old.
US performer Finn, who was seen in iconic TV shows like Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has succumbed at the age of 60.
The skilled improv artist passed away at his residence in Los Angeles, California on Monday having undergone treatment for cancer beginning in 2022, per news outlets.
"Pat considered no one a stranger - just potential friends he didn't know yet," his relatives said in a message.
They added that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with joy and exuberance".
A Notable Television Career
His initial on-screen part was on the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he played the titular character's brother.
He also had a regular part on Murphy Brown from 1995 to 1997.
He played the part of the character Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in 1998, playing a host who would assign unpleasant chores to his guests.
Throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s, he had guest spots on a variety of well-known programs, like:
- The King of Queens
- "Friends"
- That '70s Show
- "House"
He was most recognized for portraying Bill Norwood in The Middle, featuring across eight seasons of the show from 2011 to 2018.
His work in movies include "It's Complicated" and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.
Off-Screen Life
Away from his acting parts, Finn was a skilled improviser and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was an adjunct professor.
He was part of a six-person improv troupe called "Beer Shark Mice".
"He guided, supported, and advised countless students over the years and it's nearly impossible to find a person who has an unkind word to say about him," his family wrote.
Paying homage, peer Richard Kind remarked there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, grounded individual you could encounter".
"Always positive, making those around him better and funnier. An excellent dad and person," Kind wrote on social media.
The actor is survived by his partner Donna, his three kids, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
