Football Expert Chris Sutton Faces Off Against Singer Murs in Premier League Forecasts

Arsenal's ten-match winning streak was ended by Sunderland before the global hiatus, however will the Premier League frontrunners recover against local foes Spurs this Sunday?

"{I believe like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this game," stated soccer expert Chris Sutton.

"Frank will attempt to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling best this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's team usually still find a way to win."

Sutton is making predictions for all 380 Premier League fixtures this term, against artificial intelligence, fans and a variety of guests.

In week 12, he faces singer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United fan.

Murs' latest record, Knees Up, is out on Friday.

Soccer and Family Life

Olly is a skilled footballer as well as a accomplished artist and has been a star of multiple Soccer Aid games over time - but he is not planning a professional return as a footballer.

"{I recently played in a benefit game the other night for a friend of mine," he explained. "My side was losing 3-1 when I was substituted in the second half, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you want!

"I continue to love football, but I hurt my knee a few years ago and it even now hasn't fully recovered. I wish I could play more but the unpredictability of the sport means it's too dangerous for me in my profession to do it properly again.

"Plus I am forty-one now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am gearing up for the time that my daughter or boy decides to play instead."

Murs and his wife his partner have a young family, their daughter and their son, and he is prepared to emulate his dad by taking on the role of their manager.

"I won't force football on our children but I've already told my wife that if they happen to get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will likely be managing their Saturday football team," he added.

"I watched my relatives play a lot, and I really got into it, and I clearly was involved with a soccer team for a period too.

"My father coached with us when I was a kid, which is likely where I inherited it. He managed our side for two or three seasons and had a wonderful time with it. That might be the future for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"

Premier League Predictions

Saturday, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

The Blues might have to be patient for Cole Palmer's return from injury but their offense is now stronger with Pedro and Delap both returned to fitness.

I still think this fixture will be quite close, however. Burnley are disciplined and their sole at Turf Moor losses so far have been against Liverpool and the Gunners.

This suggests a 1-1 tie to me, but I am in fact going to go with Chelsea to edge it for what would be their third league win in a row.

Sutton's forecast: 1-2

Olly's pick: Chelsea will be too strong. 1-3

Artificial intelligence's prediction: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Bournemouth have been defeated in their previous couple matches - although both of them were away - but they got thoroughly beaten by Villa last time out which surprised me.

On the other hand, the Hammers secured two in a row before the hiatus and, although both of those fixtures were at home, they do look competitive again.

West Ham's only away victory this campaign came at Forest in August, when their boss Nuno was previously Forest coach.

Therefore, what exactly do I predict here - will it be West Ham extending their run under their manager, or Bournemouth bouncing back?

I will choose Bournemouth, because I believe what happened against Villa was a blip.

The pundit's forecast: 2-0

Olly's prediction: Bournemouth are performing strongly but West Ham have picked up under Nuno. 2-2

The algorithm's prediction: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Brentford were considered one of the favourites for the drop before the campaign began, but they have surprised a few people under Keith Andrews and are in fine fettle with three in their last four games.

A family member advised me to get Brentford striker Igor Thiago in my fantasy soccer team a few weeks ago and, guess what, I didn't listen.

The forward will likely find the net again on Saturday but I am nonetheless not going to select him or back the away side at Amex Stadium.

The Bees have not had great success on the road this term, and the Seagulls are always decent at their stadium. The visitors will try to hit them on the counter-attack but I feel the home manager's side pose much more of a danger.

Sutton's forecast: 2-1

Olly's view: It could be a match where you expect there is going to be a many scores but it actually proves to be rather tight. 1-1

AI's prediction: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

It is a massive fixture for Fulham, who have lost five of their past six matches.

Fulham have have lots of talent in their squad but it still feels like they could be dragged into a relegation fight.

Regarding Sunderland, well they are the surprise package of the top flight season so far.

Their display in the 2-2 tie with Arsenal last time out was superb. We've not witnessed any other team rough up the Gunners like that this season, and Sunderland were fully competitive for them.

The sensible thing to do to back the Black Cats here, because they are obviously able of disrupting the hosts up too and, the previous occasion they were in this part of London, they defeated the Blues at the close of last month.

However I am not going to choose that. Rather, I really need to continue opposing Sunderland with my forecasts. I am claiming a lot of credit for their positive outcomes because they evidently love to defy my predictions.

Looking at Fulham's at Craven Cottage record, the sole side they have been defeated by is Arsenal. Their manager's side will be absolutely desperate for a positive result, so I am going to predict they will secure three points.

Sutton's prediction: 1-0

Olly's choice: I know Sunderland are doing well and also that Fulham are on a poor run... but Fulham have still been respectable at home this campaign. 2-0

The algorithm's prediction: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

This is a hard fixture to predict. The Reds have suffered seven of their past 10 games in every tournament, but might they be among the sides who profit from the {international break|
