The Gunners' boss feels assured that his side can keep managing with injury setbacks following confirming that star striker Kai Havertz is not ready for several more weeks.
Prolonged Recovery for Havertz
The Germany international has been absent for months due to an operation on his knee. Originally slated to return at the start of this month, Arteta revealed the player faced a hurdle when advancing his recovery and could not progress “to the next level.”
“Our experience helped us build a group that is considerably steadier and has greater depth,” stated the manager.
Selection Dilemma for Brentford Clash
This update leaves a dilemma for Wednesday’s match against Brentford. Arteta must choose between continuing to use Mikel Merino, who scored as a makeshift striker against Chelsea, or reinstating Viktor Gyökeres, who made a return off the bench off the bench. Long-term absentee Gabriel Jesus remains available after 11 months out.
Defensive Concerns Remain

Commenting on the delay noted by national team coach Julian Nagelsmann, Arteta provided additional context. “His recovery was progressing. He failed to advance to the next level and now it appears like we have solved that issue.”
He shared his eagerness to see him return. “We’re all desperate to have him. Truly, Havertz is someone that, in my view, I love so much for the qualities he offers to the team, but his mentality, his nature. I observe his frustration while sidelined.”
