Slot Maintains He Feels Safe and Retains Liverpool's Support Following PSV Humiliation

Arne Slot acknowledged that it's understandable for concerns to be raised about his position after a further convincing loss versus PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds suffered their 9th loss in twelve matches, representing the team's worst run after being demoted in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie champions on a tough night at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, I'm fine, I've received a lot of support from the top,” Slot stated.

“It's important to turn it around and get a victory obviously but if you are working as a coach and struggling then it's expected that questions are asked.”

He continued, “I accept my role. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a difficult position but it is about time that we turned it around.”

Talks with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his dialogues with the club's leadership, Slot said:

“There's regular dialogue. They are helpful to the team and to me and those talks happen but they aren't calling me every single minute of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He added, “Through standard exchanges I feel the confidence. However I've not talked to them after this defeat so far so let’s see.”

Persistent Failings and Squad Reaction

The manager expressed regret over known failings from his squad in their Champions League loss, namely poor finishing and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more forthright in his assessment of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the answers. Frankly, I don’t. I'm telling that to everybody,” Jones remarked.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don't need to wait to think about it. I’m past feeling anger internally. I’m at the point now where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He added, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the club I love. I support them, and I've watched this club since I was young.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Reds side experiencing a phase such as this with results this poor.”

Jones concluded, “But we continue to wear that badge on our shirts. And until that badge is gone, we will always fight.”

“Our aim is to get this team back to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all once more what this club is about and why people call it the best team in the planet.”

“But right now, things are bad and it needs to change.”
